Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. The Core Principle: Zero Cloud Uploads
TinyPixels was built specifically to protect your privacy. Unlike traditional image compression services that require you to upload your files to a third-party server, TinyPixels processes all images 100% locally on your machine.
We never see, upload, transmit, or store the images you compress. All image processing is performed entirely using your own CPU and local storage.
2. Data We Collect
Because the app runs entirely offline for image processing, the data we collect is minimal and strictly limited to the following:
- Email Address: If you join our waitlist or purchase a license, we collect your email address to send product updates, your license key, and important account communications.
- License Verification: When you activate TinyPixels, the app contacts our licensing server (Supabase) to verify the validity of your license key. This request includes your license key and a device identifier. No image data is transmitted.
- Trial Usage: Your daily compression count is stored locally on your device in the macOS Keychain. This data never leaves your machine.
3. Crash Reporting & Diagnostics
To improve stability and fix bugs, TinyPixels uses the following crash reporting services. These are triggered only when the app encounters an unexpected error:
- Sentry: Collects anonymised crash reports including the error type, stack trace, app version, and device OS version. Sentry does not receive your images or personal files. Reports may include file system paths referenced at the time of the crash. Data is processed under Sentry's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Provides additional crash analytics including device model, OS version, and crash frequency. No image data or personal files are transmitted. Data is processed under Google's Privacy Policy.
Crash reports are used solely for debugging and improving the app. They are not sold or shared with any third party beyond the services listed above.
4. Automatic Update Checks
TinyPixels periodically checks for available updates by contacting tinypixels-app.com/appcast.xml. This request is made automatically on launch and contains no personal data beyond standard HTTP headers (including your IP address, which is logged by our web server in accordance with standard server logging practices). You can disable automatic update checks in the app settings.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate our business:
- Gumroad: Our payment processor for license purchases. We never see or store your credit card information. Governed by Gumroad's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Our backend infrastructure for license verification and app configuration. Data is stored on Supabase's servers. Governed by Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Resend: Our email provider for waitlist confirmations and transactional emails.
6. Data Retention
- Email addresses are retained until you request deletion.
- License records are retained for the lifetime of your license to support activation and deactivation.
- Crash reports are retained for 90 days by Sentry and Firebase.
- Local usage data (Keychain) is stored on your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@tinypixels-app.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
TinyPixels is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
